WireCo, a wire and synthetic rope solutions company, has launched its latest innovation, the OLIVEIRA Durascend rope. Announced from Prairie Village, Kansas, United States, Durascend is a rotation-resistant compacted rope aimed at the crane industry.
Durascend is designed to offer a cost-efficient solution for small and medium-sized cranes, including tower cranes up to 100 metres high and mobile cranes with up to 100-tonne capacity. The rope is available in diametres ranging from 8 millimetre (mm) to 19mm, promising an appealing cost-to-performance ratio.
The new product aims to replace less efficient ropes like the LT24K and Towerlift and fills a niche where high-end ropes are not necessary. WireCo highlights that Durascend is engineered to withstand the demanding conditions of crane operations while maintaining affordability.
David Rowatt, PhD, PE, SVP Global Steel Engineering at WireCo, emphasised that Durascend addresses the specific requirements of crane operators without exceeding them, while remaining competitively priced. He said, “Our goal with Durascend is to deliver a high-performance rope that meets customers’ exact needs—without exceeding them—at a competitive price point. This offering represents WireCo’s ongoing commitment to providing innovative solutions that support crane operators in optimizing performance and reducing operational costs.”
Durascend’s development involved extensive analysis, design, and rigorous testing, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the crane industry for more efficient and reliable equipment.
