Futurist Charles Brass and LEEA CEO Ross Moloney have pulled out the crystal ball and looked into the future of the industry on day one of LiftEx Regional.
Ross spoke about what LEEA can do to prepare for the future and support its members.
“My favourite part of this job, is spending time with really successful businesses and I try to steal their ideas and their mentalities and bring that into what we do at LEEA,” Ross said.
“A successful organisation has at least two horizons it is looking at, it is looking at today and what is happening now and then it is looking 12 to 18 months in the future and that is what makes them so successful, they are able to look at the medium term.
“Everything that we are doing as an organisation is making sure that we are delivering today, as an association our future has to be set up and we have to be prepared for any challenges taht may come our way,” he said.
Ross spoke to what is important for LEEA to focus on as it moves forward.
“The fundamental part of being a trade organisation, you don’t live in the hubris space, when your members say get a grip you have to listen and respond to them,” Ross said.
Futurist Charles Brass noted the importance of being able to quickly adjust and change to any challenge.
“How do you prepare yourself so that you are responsive when something happens?”
“You have to prepare your staff so you can respond quickly and effectively,” Charles said.
“An example is what we are seeing in the Ukraine at the moment.
“When a business used to do X they are now having to do Y to serve their country, whilst it is similar it was a mindset that allowed them to quickly pivot and change and that is allowing the Ukraine to compete against Russia,” Charles said.
Ross finished the session with this comment.
“As we are looking to the future, it is important that we have some idea of where we are going and that is what LEEA will be doing,” Ross said.
