360 axle lines of Cometto’s MSPE EVO2 vehicles have been deployed in Korea to help construct a 63,781-tonne floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO).
The axle lines were acquired by Korean logistics company KCTC to lift and shift six blocks, who was contracted by Samkang S&C to conduct the load-out work – the only shipyard in Korea that specialises in repairing and remodelling mega ship and offshore plant. KCTC moved the six blocks individually, seeing as an FPSO ship is too large as a single unit, resting them on a floating dock where they would eventually be welded together.
To move the modules, KCTC sought out Cometto’s MSPE EVO2 from three different companies in the Republic of Korea: Global, Daemyung, and Anjeon. The EVO2 series from Cometto possesses a 60-tonne per axle line configuration, with KCTC requiring the use of anywhere between 288 and 360 axle lines per shift. According to the manufacturer, Cometto’s MSPE series represents the highest payload on the market and, thanks to its unique suspension and tubeless tyre design, proves itself as especially adept when it comes to driving long distances, conquering steep slopes under full capacity, and holds better traction on the ground.
Overall, the final constructed ship unit possessed a main deck length of 340m, with a width of 64m and a height of 31.5m.
Cometto’s products are exclusively distributed in Australia by The Drake Group.
