Located in Wangaratta, the Green Street Bridge is being replaced, with the rail tracks beneath being lowered by 2.8m to allow for double-stacked freight trains to safely pass through. Contracted by major construction company, McConnell Dowell, Advanced Cranes dispatched its LTM 1650-8.1 to remove 12 sections of the bridge. Averaging about 1.5m wide and 12m long, the weight of the old bridge sections varied between 10 and 16 tonnes, making light work for the 700-tonne Liebherr.
On top of its huge maximum rated capacity that it can lift at a radius of three metres, the LTM 1450-8.1 possesses a main telescopic boom that can extend out to 85m, a maximum hoisting height of 132m and a maximum radius of 103m. Thanks to its large lifting heights and lengthy operating radii, the crane thrives in a wide range of projects that require high performance on eight axles, such as wind farms and major infrastructure projects, and can be equipped with a maximum of 134 tonnes of counterweight.
Advanced Cranes completes a range of such tasks, with its machines being spotted across Victoria’s major infrastructure projects and on wind farm maintenance jobs across Australia.
The $31.4 billion Inland Rail Project is being headed up by the Australian Rail Track Corporation and is described as a “nation-building” project that will allow the safer transportation of double-stacked freight trains, aiming to deliver everyday products faster and more reliably around Australia.
