German crane company Ullrich Krane has taken delivery of the 28th Liebherr mobile crane in its fleet, the Liebherr LTM 1250-5.1.
The Chemnitz-based crane hire company purchased the five-axle, 250-tonne machine to replace its now obsolete, nine-year old, six-axle crane of the same class – the Liebherr LTM 1250-6.1. Almost exclusively using Liebherr cranes, the largest mobile crane in Ullrich Krane’s fleet was immediately sent to work at a biomass power plant, where it was tasked with assembling plant and boiler components in Annaberg-Buchholz.
“We have had very good experiences with our previous 250-tonne Liebherr crane in the past,” said Ullrich Krane’s managing partner Holger Ludewig. “The LTM 1250-5.1 is the latest crane version in this class and fits perfectly into our fleet.”
Holding a maximum rated capacity of 250 tonnes, the five-axle mobile crane from Liebherr features a main telescopic boom that extends out to 60m and a lattice jib extension combination that can give the crane a maximum hoist height of 108m. Powered by a six-cylinder, diesel-powered Liebherr engine, the carrier and crane can also run on HVO fuel for more sustainable, environmentally friendly operations. The crane holds a maximum operating radius of 96m and possesses the VarioBallast and VarioBase features that make the crane most suited to narrow construction sites where smaller radii are required.
“The LTM 1250-5.1 is the largest crane we operate in our fleet,” said Ludewig. “Our cranes are used in the greater Saxony area, primarily in the construction and assembly of precast concrete parts as well as in bridge construction and in the energy sector.”

Throughout its near-30-year history, Ullrich Krane’s fleet has always possessed Liebherr machines. The company was founded in 1994 and took delivery of four Liebherr mobile cranes in its first year of operations. With 24 additional Liebherr cranes, its fleet has been kept up to date with the latest mobile crane technology ever since, with founder Michael Ullrich saying the Chemnitz-based crane hire company has always felt very valued and looked after.
