Dewsbury & Proud, a family-owned UK rental company with over four decades of experience with Grove cranes, has added two new Grove GMK4100L-2 all-terrain cranes to its fleet.
The new cranes have already been deployed across a variety of projects, showcasing their versatility and reliability. The cranes, known for their compact design and impressive 60-metre main boom, have been put to work on projects ranging from water treatment facilities and bridge maintenance to quarry support, steel erection, and road construction.
“We’ve owned a few generations of the four-axle, 100 t Grove all terrain cranes, and these latest GMK4100L-2 models are great,” said Jack Proud of Dewsbury & Proud. “They’re compact machines, but they’ve also got a 60 m main boom, so we can send them to projects where other cranes can’t access. That gives us more flexibility and keeps their utilisation high.”

The decision to invest in these high-spec cranes follows an uptick in demand for Dewsbury & Proud’s services. The cranes feature Grove’s advanced technology, including the MAXbase™ variable outrigger positioning system, a heavy-duty jib for lifting in restricted headroom, and a fully hydraulic luffing jib.
One crane is based at the company’s head office in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, while the other operates from the Coventry depot. Dewsbury & Proud also has facilities in Loughborough and Stoke-on-Trent, supporting a rental fleet of 50 cranes and a dedicated team of 80 staff.
James Leishman, sales manager for mobile cranes at Manitowoc UK, praised the long-standing partnership: “Dewsbury & Proud have been buying Grove cranes since 1984 and have a good, long-standing relationship with us. An important factor in our ongoing partnership is delivering industry-leading aftermarket support to ensure Grove cranes exceed our customer’s expectations. We’re delighted they’ve enjoyed such success with the latest GMK4100L-2 right from the outset. Congratulations to Tim, Jack, Ellie, and all the team – we look forward to many more years of successful partnership.”
