Two new all-terrain cranes are helping build an offshore gas platform in Azerbaijan after being fast-tracked to the country for the major energy project.
Heavy lifting and transport company HAREKET has expanded its fleet in the Caspian region with the purchase of two Grove GMK5150XL all-terrain cranes. The cranes are being used on an offshore gas platform under construction by AZFEN for Azerbaijan’s growing energy sector.
The cranes were supplied by Manitowoc dealer KARUN, which also provides parts, servicing and training support. HAREKET selected the GMK5150XL models because of their manufacturing quality and long reach, with the cranes carrying out heavy lifts on the project site.

The Grove GMK5150XL features a 68.7-metre main boom, which the company says is the longest available on a 150-tonne mobile crane with a five-axle chassis. The longer boom allows operators to complete high lifts using only the main boom, reducing the need for a jib and cutting setup time on the space-constrained offshore site.
Founded 69 years ago, HAREKET operates across Eurasia, the Middle East and Africa. After the Azerbaijan project, the two cranes are expected to be deployed on wind turbine installations, refinery maintenance and shipyard work.
