On 19 November 2025, a free Women in Construction careers event will take place at the Tower Crane Training Facility in Campbelltown, NSW.
The event is being hosted by NexGen in partnership with the Workforce Australia – Local Jobs Program (Sydney South West), Incolinks’ Women in Construction Program, and Tower Crane Training.
The day will focus on pathways in the lifting and crane industry, an area rarely showcased at traditional career events. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore crane operations, meet industry professionals, and learn about the wide range of roles available in construction.
Currently, women make up just 14 per cent of the construction workforce, highlighting the barriers that still exist. Organisers say the event is designed to change perceptions and spark interest among women who may not have previously considered a career in the industry.
The organisers explained that it’s not about ticking boxes, it’s about showing women that there is space for them here. Sometimes it takes just one conversation, one experience, to shift how someone sees their future.
By introducing women to careers in crane operations and construction more broadly, the event aims to break down stereotypes, create opportunities, and build a more diverse workforce. Studies have shown that when women are part of the team, construction becomes safer, more collaborative, and more innovative.
