Tadano’s New AC 5.250L-2 crane offers extended reach and more power

Tadano

Tadano has introduced the AC 5.250L-2, a new all-terrain crane that adds to the capacity of the existing line up.

The five-axle crane, from the Japan-based manufacturer is made for lifting heavy loads in urban environments and construction sites.

The AC 5.250L-2 comes with a 79-metre (m) main boom that can extend up to 109m when using its optional 30m boom extension.

This high load moment is achieved with a working radius of seven metres, a 13.5m long main boom and a load weight of 105.2 tonnes (t). In addition, Tadano offers an optional heavy-lift attachment for heavier loads up to 138.7t on the short boom with additional sheaves.

It can be moved on public roads while staying within a 12t axle load limit, carrying essential equipment like outriggers and a 32t hook block. When configured with a 16.5t axle load, it can transport additional components, including 20t of counterweight.

Smart counterweight system

The AC 5.250L-2 uses a modular counterweight system, allowing it to lift its full 80t counterweight in three separate lifts.

The system is designed for flexibility, with no individual component weighing more than 10t, making transportation and on-site handling easier.

The crane comes equipped with Tadano’s IC-1 Plus control system, which calculates real-time load capacity based on the superstructure’s slewing angle. This feature can maximise the lifting potential of the crane.

An optional Surround View camera system helps operators position the crane, displaying the maximum possible outrigger extensions in real time. The system also helps improve visibility of pedestrians and cyclists when driving to the site.

Tadano AC 5.250L-2 hydraulic components are placed away from the cabin to reduce noise. Additional safety features include a load-view camera and an optional pendant light for improved visibility.

The machine is powered by a 530 horsepower (hp) Mercedes-Benz engine. It meets EU Stage V emissions standards and supports HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) fuel for reduced environmental impact. It also gets a built-in Eco Mode and start/stop function help increase fuel efficiency.
