Tadano unveils powerful new crawler crane

Tadano just launched its latest flagship crawler crane – the CC 78.1250-1, an upgrade to its previous model. The new model is designed to tackle heavy lifts, especially in sectors such as wind power. The crane comes with a 1250-tonne capacity and some added safety features.

The Tadano CC 78.1250-1 can lift up to 140 tonnes, when equipped with a 15-metre fixed jib, and reach a maximum hook height of 224.5 metres.

Tadano has widened the crane’s base to 3.5 metres to increase the stability. It also offers two crawler shoe width options (2.0m and 2.4m) for different ground conditions.

Tadano’s Executive VP of R&D, Andreas Hofmann said, customer insights were key in shaping the crane’s capabilities.
The CC 78.1250-1 comes with a dual-engine system with a hydraulic setup that can run on just one engine during lighter operations. The crane is powered by two Mercedes-Benz engines that support Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) fuel.

An optional 17 kilowatt (kW) auxiliary power unit powers the cab’s systems in standby mode, which will help cut down fuel use and emissions.

Safety features

The crane includes Tadano’s Fall Protection System, updated access ladders, handrails, and better visibility in and around the cab with wide-angle views, cameras, and mirrors.

For sites where crawlers aren’t ideal, the crane can switch to an optional Pedestal Crane (PC) kit, replacing tracks with outriggers that stabilise the crane on uneven ground.

Technology
Every CC 78.1250-1 comes with Tadano’s IC-1 control system, which displays live ground pressure data during setup and helps operators work safely with long booms. The system also supports remote diagnostics through IC-1 Remote, reducing downtime and streamlining fleet maintenance.

The Tadano CC 78.1250-1 crane is built in Zweibrücken, Germany. The company said that the crane has been optimised for easier shipping and assembly with smart lifting points and high-quality components from trusted partners.
