Tadano captivated audiences at the CSPI-EXPO 2025, held from June 18-21 at Makuhari Messe, with its groundbreaking CRANET Mobile Crane Remote Operation System.
The annual event, Japan’s largest construction and surveying industry gathering, attracted over 50,000 attendees eager to witness the latest industry innovations.
Operating under the slogan “Reaching new heights,” Tadano’s booth drew over 5,000 visitors, showcasing technologies that highlighted safety, productivity, and environmental sustainability. Dai Okajima, Manager of the Public Relations and Publicity Group for Tadano Ltd., said, “The booth was more successful than last year, and we were able to promote our company’s current situation (business expansion, advanced technology, environmental initiatives, etc.) to a wide range of generations, including the general public.”
CRANET
A standout at the Expo was Tadano’s CRANET, a Mobile Crane Remote Operation System. The live demonstration featured operators controlling an unmanned EVOLT eGR-250N rough terrain crane from a specially designed cockpit inside Tadano’s booth. This showcased real-time, remote-controlled operations, with visitors observing every move via live monitors.
“Visitors were fascinated by the seamless control and efficiency of CRANET. It represents a significant leap forward in job site safety and crane operation productivity,” said a Tadano representative. The technology exemplifies Tadano’s commitment to venturing into new fields and enhancing operational training.
Other Innovations
Tadano also highlighted its Crane Operation Training Simulator, allowing both seasoned operators and curious young attendees to experience virtual crane operations. This hands-on approach aims to inspire future operators while enhancing current training methodologies.
Additionally, Tadano showcased two products from the recently acquired Manitex Group:
-Oil & Steel OctoPlus 21: A hybrid self-propelled aerial work platform, demonstrated via radio control. Its double pantograph articulation allows unique vertical ascent/descent movements.
-Valla V180R: A fully electric, radio-controlled pick-and-carry crane with an 18-tonne capacity. Its compact design and eco-friendly operations drew significant attention.
The AS-21PCN crawler-type telescopic boom lift also provided attendees an opportunity to experience views from a 20.9-metre height, highlighting the equipment’s versatility.
Family-Friendly Engagement
The public day on June 21 proved especially popular, as families and young children explored Tadano’s exhibits. Many children delighted in test rides inside the EVOLT eGR-250N crane cab, sparking potential interest in future careers within the industry.
Reflecting on the event’s success, Okajima said, “The high motivation and responsible involvement shown by the approximately 150 Tadano staff and vendors in total was a major achievement, and we believe it was this that led to the success of this event.”
