Tadano GR-1000EX-4 rough terrain crane joins new fleet

Boskalis has strengthened operations at its Central Distribution Center (CDC) in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands, with the addition of a new Tadano GR-1000EX-4 rough terrain crane.

The international service provider in dredging, offshore energy, and maritime services has relied on a Tadano GR-600EXL for the past 23 years to handle heavy equipment, including pumps, constructions, and containers. The crane has played a key role in managing logistics for a wide range of materials, from small consumables to oversized machinery shipped across the globe.

In early September, Boskalis took delivery of the new GR-1000EX-4, handed over by Tadano Sales Manager Richard Beenen. The updated model offers higher lifting capacity and advanced safety systems, giving the team more capability to handle heavier and more complex loads.

The GR-1000EX-4 features a 50.9-metre full power main boom — the longest in the 100-tonne class — providing excellent reach and radius within a compact footprint. It is powered by a Cummins engine and fitted with additional counterweight for improved lifting performance. The design also includes a tilting cabin for better visibility and a side ladder that converts into steps for safer access.

Chris van Wijk, Logistic Manager at Boskalis, said: “Our previous Tadano crane served us reliably for more than two decades. That proven quality was one of the key reasons we chose Tadano again. With the GR-1000EX-4, we are confident we can continue to work safely and efficiently for many years to come.”

The new crane is set to support Boskalis’ ongoing commitment to safe, reliable, and efficient logistics as it continues to operate around the world.
