Johannesburg-based company Marlboro Crane Hire has received a new Tadano 4.080-1 all-terrain crane to further expand its general operations.

The general flexibility provided by the 80-tonne all-terrainer was the main selling point for owner of Marlboro Crane Hire, Oliver Dalais.

“What really clinched it for us was the outstanding reach of the crane’s 60-meter boom in combination with its amazingly compact design,” he said. “That means we can use it in tight spaces, where it absolutely comes into its own with its unbeatable lifting capacity at steep boom positions.”

Tadano’s AC 4.080-1 will help Marlboro Crane Hire expand its general operations thanks to its “versatility”.

Ordering the crane with Flex Base for maximum range provided by its outriggers, the IC-1 Remote, and an offsetable main boom extension, the four-axle machine is powered by a Mercedes engine and holds a maximum lifting radius of 48 metres.

Additionally, the crane’s maximum boom length extends out to 60 metres with a 6.5 metre extension. Holding a maximum counterweight of 17.7 tonnes, the crane’s outrigger bases hold dimensions of 8.08 metres x 6.48 metres.

Managing director at Marlboro Crane Hire Kathleen Dias labelled the machine as “stunning” upon receiving it from MMS Mobile Cranes – Tadano’s official distributor in the Southern African region since mid-2022.

“For us, the crane’s comprehensive range of standard and optional equipment is further proof of Tadano’s ability to bring innovation-packed machines onto the market that completely and utterly meet the needs of customers,” she said.

Jared Terry, Sales Manager of MMS Mobile Cranes who officially handed the crane over, was effusive in his praise for Tadano’s “long-standing customer”, citing the experience as an “honour and a pleasure”.

“Marlboro’s decision to order this crane is a vote of confidence in us and the Tadano brand,” he said. “It augurs well for the future of our two companies in the South African market.”

Founded in 1992, South African company Marlboro Crane Hire is a specialist lifting solutions company with experience in the mining, construction, and manufacturing industries.
