Tadano Ltd. has announced the successful acquisition of the transportation system business of IHI Transport Machinery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of IHI Corporation. This strategic move is part of Tadano’s efforts to broaden its product range and enhance customer value worldwide.

As part of the deal, Tadano established a new company, IUK Crane Ltd., on February 17, 2025, to manage the business transfer. Effective today, Tadano has acquired all shares of IUK Crane, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. The company will now operate under the name Tadano Infrastructure Solutions Ltd., with Tadano’s President and CEO, Mr. Toshiaki Ujiie, also serving as its President.

“This acquisition is a key step in expanding our capabilities in the global lifting equipment market,” said Mr. Ujiie. “By integrating this business into our group, we are better equipped to meet the evolving needs of our customers and provide long-term value.”

IHI Transport Machinery’s transportation systems business brings over 50 years of engineering expertise, including products like Jib Climbing Cranes, Port and Large Offshore Cranes, Wind Power Cranes, and Bulk Handling Systems. These offerings will complement Tadano’s existing products, especially its Lattice Boom Crawler Cranes from Germany, and strengthen its support for industries such as construction, ports, offshore projects, wind energy, and general industrial applications.

The acquisition cost is approximately 15.3 billion yen, although the final amount is subject to adjustments as per the share transfer agreement. With this acquisition Tadano can focus on innovation, diversification, and maintaining a leading position in the global lifting solutions market.
