LGH has teamed up with Pro-Krane, a division of Pacific Hoists, to develop a custom-built 32 tonne rated dynamic load test stand. This collaboration enhances LGH’s in-house testing capabilities, ensuring powered and manual hoists are tested under real-world conditions with greater safety and efficiency.
LGH’s commitment to in-house testing and certification sets it apart. The new system aligns with global standards, meeting manufacturer recommendations and Australian compliance requirements. This investment strengthens LGH’s ability to rigorously test, inspect, and certify equipment onsite, ensuring fleet readiness for immediate, safe deployment.
Designed for precision
Working closely with Pro-Krane and Pacific Hoists, LGH sought a solution that balanced accuracy with efficiency. Steve Purves, Chief Technical Officer at Pacific Hoists, said, “While free weights are ideal for replicating real-world conditions, they require significant investment, consume large amounts of floor space and demand considerable manual handling effort. Electric-over-hydraulic test stations are cost-effective and efficient but often fall short in accurately replicating real-world usage conditions for hoists.”
Addressing these challenges, Pro-Krane implemented a counterbalance test tower with a cantilever arm and 5 tonnes of ballast, achieving a 32 tonne load capacity. This system was designed, third-party verified, manufactured, and installed swiftly.
This investment isn’t about changing LGH’s methods – it’s about enhancing them. The new test stand reinforces LGH’s dedication to safety, compliance, and quality control. Interest from within the LGH group hints at broader adoption, showcasing the value of this local collaboration.
