Skyjack has announced a new battery-powered rough terrain telescopic boom, the SJ28 TE+, built for customers in China and Southeast Asia.
The company says the new model brings the strength of its global boom range to the rental market, with a focus on performance, efficiency and sustainability.
The SJ28 TE+ has a 28-metre working height and is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. It delivers zero emissions, lower operating costs and higher utilisation, which Skyjack says makes it well suited to rental fleets.
“Skyjack became an industry leader by providing machine features that combine durability, quality, and serviceability, making our products world-renowned for reliability,” Skyjack President Charlie Patterson said. “Our new electric telescopic boom, proudly designed for the Chinese and Southeast Asian markets, remains simply reliable and provides an environmentally friendly and sustainable choice for rental.”

The machine uses an all-electric, four-wheel, axle-based drive system for improved efficiency and rough terrain capability. It runs on high-performance AC induction traction and pump motors to enhance torque, power and speed. Lithium-ion batteries and simple servicing are designed to keep lifetime operating costs low.
Skyjack Asia-Pacific Vice President of Operations Chan Tran said equipment uptime was a priority for customers. “The Skyjack team understands the importance of maximum uptime, so our equipment is designed to provide just that. All major service points are easily accessible, enabling straightforward troubleshooting and repairs,” Chan said. “The SJ28 TE+ has been designed to meet true jobsite performance expectations, whether it be navigating various rough terrain conditions or lifting the work platform.”
The boom features Skyjack’s AXLDRIVE system for improved traction, up to 45% gradeability and smooth travel in difficult conditions. The EASYDRIVE direction-sensing system allows the boom to move in the direction the operator is facing. Other features include 360-degree continuous turret rotation, multi-function capability and an articulating jib with an auto-levelling platform. The platform has a capacity of up to 454 kg.

The SJ28 TE+ runs on an 80V system with 519AH lithium-ion batteries and an automatic charger. It is compatible with 220V and 380V power supplies. Bulk charging takes less than five hours at 60A or under four hours at 80A.
Skyjack machines include simple control systems with on-board diagnostics, clear displays and easy-to-understand readouts to reduce maintenance time. The company’s ECO mark also helps rental firms and contractors track sustainability performance.
The first units of the SJ28 TE+ are scheduled for delivery from Skyjack’s Tianjin factory in February 2026.
