Multinational heavy lifting company Sarens deployed the 300-tonne crane, on behalf of Canadian builder, Old Oak Properties.
The LTM 1300-6.2 was partly chosen due to the precast panel’s mid-rise engineering specifications.
The precast, intended for a mid-rise residential building, was manufactured outside of engineered specs and outside of the client’s tower crane capacity, meaning the LTM 1300-6.2 was needed.
Sarens discussed mobilisation in detail in order to best execute the lift in one day as it considered the substantial ramp leading to the construction site. Extra matting was provided under the crane for increased stability.
Whilst being supported by matting on the entry ramp, The LTM 1300-6.2 lifted the 41metre high panel which included a 16m radius directly in front of the existing tower crane on site.
The tower crane, therefore, had to be moved in conjunction with the LTM 1300-6.2 to avoid a mid-air collision with the load.
The LTM 1300-6.2 was configured with a 48-metre main boom to allow for enough reach when lifting the panel.
The six-axle LTM 1300-6.2 telescopic boom reaches 78 metres with an optional lattice jib- which was not required on this project – providing an extra 70 metres.
The delivery and assembly of the LTM 1300 6.2 only took two hours. The variobase allows each outrigger to be extended to a different length, making set up time simple for crews.
