SANY ships first batch of advanced cranes to PSA Terminals

Sany Marine shipped the first shipment of two advanced dual-trolley automatic ship-to-shore (STS) cranes to PSA Terminals. This milestone will mark the beginning of port equipment delivery for a massive project.

Part of the larger project, the shipments will include seven dual-trolley STS cranes. These cranes are designed to handle heavy loads, equipped with a spreader rated for 65 tonnes. They boast a rail gauge of 35 metres, a front outreach of 73 metres, and a back reach of 22 metres. The cranes can hoist containers up to 55 metres above rail level and 23 metres below, with the trolley capable of travelling 26.5 metres on the seaside and 26.7 metres on the landside.

Key features include a through-type structure design and advanced automation control, ensuring smooth coordination between the main trolley and the gantry trolley. A network of over 10 high-precision scanners and 50 high-definition cameras creates a 3D perception system, allowing for precise container positioning and intelligent handling. The smart control system also calculates the most efficient movement paths, significantly boosting operational productivity.

Alongside the cranes, 10 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes have also been dispatched to the PSA’s wharf. These RTGs have a rated lifting capacity of 41 tons, a span of 23.37 metres, and a lifting height of 18.2 metres.

SANY Marine, the manufacturer behind the equipment, operates a 500,000-square-metre assembly base. This facility can handle the assembly and commissioning of up to 24 STS cranes and 40 RTG cranes simultaneously, ensuring rapid delivery.
