The team saw first-hand how “manual processes were holding companies back,” Alma said. Many crane operators still rely on pen-and-paper logbooks or ad-hoc Excel sheets to monitor equipment status. “You’d be amazed how many big companies still have Monday-to-Sunday job schedules on a whiteboard,” she said. Important details – like whether a shackle’s certification has expired or if a crane’s annual inspection is due – can slip through the cracks in such manual systems. The platform serves as a secure, centralised hub where all lifting gear information is stored and kept up to date. Users can log every piece of equipment – from cranes and hoists down to slings and shackles – into a digital register along with its certification details and inspection history. Once entered, the system takes over much of the administrative burden.
Regatta Registers automatically tracks when each item is due for inspection or maintenance, based on dates or regulatory intervals. It sends timely reminders and alerts so that inspections aren’t forgotten.
“It will give reminders of when the equipment is due for inspection,” Alma said. Meaning managers no longer have to rely on memory or scribbled calendar notes. When an inspection is completed, the platform makes updating the record easy – an inspector in the field can input the new inspection date on a tablet, for example, and the system will instantly log it and generate a report. In fact, comprehensive reports can be produced with just a few clicks, providing an up-to-date snapshot of equipment status, maintenance history, and compliance records.
These reports can even be automatically shared.
“It will send a report to whoever they want – it could be their customer or their manager,” Alma said, highlighting how clients and stakeholders can be kept in the loop with minimal effort.
Critically, compliance is built into every step. Each asset entry in Regatta Registers can be linked to the relevant safety standard or regulation it must meet. “Every item is linked to a standard, so it complies,” Alma said. The software essentially creates a live compliance framework: at any moment, a user can see which equipment is certified and which might be approaching expiration or out of service.
This is a huge change from digging through file folders or hoping a tag on the equipment is still legible. With Regatta Registers, audit preparation becomes easier as well – all records are organised and accessible in one system, and certification documents or past reports are only a few clicks away. The platform even allows importing past data via CSV files, so companies can migrate their old inspection records into the new system to maintain continuity.
Following input and feedback from local firms, Regatta Registers is launching to the broader market. The service is available on a subscription basis, with a free trial and live demonstrations available for companies interested in seeing it in action.
