Crane manufacturer Raimondi has deployed five LR213 luffing jib cranes to support a dual-tower residential construction project in Dubai.
The two towers will be situated on about 13 hectares (1.4 million square feet) of land at the intersection of Downtown Dubai and its Business Bay precinct, in what Raimondi says is one of Dubai’s most renowned projects,
Raimondi’s five 14-tonne LR213 luffing jib cranes have been on site since the second quarter of this year, each freestanding at 45m.
The company’s Middle East technical team will provide onsite support throughout the project’s duration; including several climbing stages which will enable the cranes to reach their final heights of 145m and 190m.
Each of the cranes is equipped with a 74 horsepower (55 kilowatt) hoisting winch with a drum capacity of 880m, and the cranes lift at a maximum speed up to 104m per minute.
Raimondi Middle East general manager Wael Hasan said the project contractor had considered the built-up nature of the site when selecting the LR213s.
“The LR213 has been selected to meet the specific requirements of the project’s contractor, ensuring timely and safe execution, while avoiding collision and overfly of surrounding properties; making it ideal for high-rise construction in densely populated areas,” Wael said.
“Considering the congested site location, we carefully evaluate each stage of the installation process, from components arriving onsite at night to early morning installations.”
“The positioning of each machine has been studied to reduce contractor’s costs with each LR213 supporting the installation, and subsequently dismantling, of the others,” Wael added.
The LR213s will remain onsite for between 18 and 22 months to finish the project, which will offer high-end housing units, luxurious amenities, recreative areas, and restaurants once completed.
Wael said the use of the five LR213s was part of Raimondi’s active involvement in the development of the region.
“Participating in this high-profile project underscores our fleet reliability and efficiency, while reflecting our commitment to providing solutions that cater to the complex urban construction projects,” Wael said.
