Presented in Copenhagen in the evening on March 14, the global manufacturer that is commonly associated with loader cranes showcased a different side to its business with the award for the access platform, with CEO of Palfinger, Andreas Klauser, saying the company saw potential for “significant growth” in the area of access platforms.

“Based on our Vision & Strategy 2030, we are pursuing the goal of creating even more added value with intelligent digital functions to provide our customers with an all-in-one solution,” he said. “This gives us a clear and sustainable competitive advantage over our competitors.”

The P 280 CK eDrive represents a future direction of Palfinger, according to the company. Reaching a working height of 28m, the access platform is “extremely versatile”, with its all-electric drive reducing noise and pollution to a minimum and, in turn, making it much easier to work in urban areas at night and near hospitals.

According to Palfinger, the existing fleet of access platforms can be converted to minimum emission operation quickly and easily using mobile or retrofittable eDrive battery packs. Because they are battery operated, these machines can even work on job sites without a power supply at the same working speed as in diesel mode.

“The product (P 280 CK eDrive) is extremely versatile,” said Klauser, “and is used worldwide in various industries such as construction, energy, and logistics.”

Since 2023, Palfinger has been assembling its large access platform product line in Löbau, Germany, in addition to its light and premium class models.

The IAPA was hosted by the International Powered Access Federation and Access International to around 420 representatives from across the world.
