CIMIC Group’s Broad Construction has been awarded the contract to deliver Brisbane Catholic Education’s new Notre Dame College on the Sunshine Coast.
Announcing the news via a press release on January 18, Broad Construction will be responsible for the hiring, sub-contracting, and delivery of the new $23.8 million project that is being funded by the Queensland Government. CIMIC Group Executive Chairman, Juan Santamaria, said the group was “pleased” to be awarded the contract to deliver a “vibrant new learning and recreational space”.
“Broad Construction is experienced in safely building complex projects,” he said, “and will draw on the experience and skills gained from delivering award-winning educational facilities across Australia.”
According to CIMIC Group, stage one of the project will open in term one, 2025, welcoming Prep to Year Three and Year Seven students, with Broad Construction aiming to deliver five “state-of-the-art” buildings, including an administration building, various learning spaces, sports courts, a workshop, and landscaping. Early works have now commenced on the new facility and is scheduled to be finished in Q1 2025, with Broad Construction General Manager, Cyril Cahill, highlighting the all-encompassing attitude the construction company would be bringing to the redevelopment.
“Our local project team are specialists in delivering world-class educational facilities and we are proud to be working with Brisbane Catholic Education to safely construct this exciting new school for Queensland,” he said. “This new campus will focus on providing indoor and outdoor spaces that are inclusive and accessible to all, and we look forward to bringing our expertise to deliver stage one of Notre Dame College, on budget and to a high quality.”
News of Broad Construction’s winning of the contract comes after CPB Contractors, another member of the CIMIC Group, was selected to be a major construction partner for the $1.2 billion Burnett River replacement dam wall.
