The new five-axle, 100-tonne LTM 1100-5.3 immediately helped assemble a tower crane in Leipzig.

After completing the single-day tower erection project, it moved to its next assignment near Halberstadt, replacing electricity pylons belonging to grid provider 50Hertz on behalf of LTB Leitungsbau GmbH.

Richter Kran und Schwerlast GmbH’s Owner, Matthias Richter said the LTM 1100-5.3 is a modern, innovative crane representing the latest technical generation.

The crane can carry up to 16.9 tonnes of ballast on public roads with a 12-tonne axle load; by simply removing the ballast, it can travel with an axle load of just nine tonnes – this makes it economically mobile worldwide and offers significant advantages in terms of approvals and route permits.

“For us, the new LTM is an excellent taxi crane. Thanks to its long telescopic boom, low weight and width of just 2.55m, we can use it flexibly,” said Matthias.

The LTM 1100-5.3 features a powerful 62-metre telescopic boom, making it two metres longer than the next most powerful Liebherr five-axle crane, the LTM 1110-5.2.

Richter operates a fleet of Liebherr cranes ranging from three-axle-to-nine-axle models. The new LTM 1100-5.3 closes one of the last gaps in its line-up.

“We now have 12 cranes – all sourced from (Liebherr) Ehingen; this benefits our crane drivers as well, since the standardised controls across the machines make their work easier,” said Matthias.

The LTM 1100-5.3 is the second Liebherr crane to be equipped with the LICCON3 control – LICCON3 cranes are prepared for telemetry and fleet management.

“As the first crane with the new control system, the 100-tonne crane fits perfectly into our fleet,” Matthias added.

Richter Kran und Schwerlast GmbH is active throughout Europe, from Sweden to Austria and focuses on infrastructure construction sites and network expansion projects.
