Announcing the news in the early days of March, the German crane hire company brought in its 700-tonne Liebherr to expand its operations in bridge construction, wind farm maintenance, and industrial maintenance. The LTM 1650-8.1 becomes the second 700-tonne Liebherr in Dietmar Flossdorf’s fleet, with recipient, Marco Flossdorf, underscoring his company’s satisfaction with the first model purchased three years ago as the main driver behind its purchase of the second.

“(The LTM 1650-8.1 has) Impressive load capacities, high performance and great flexibility characterise this machine,” he said. “That’s why we wanted to expand our fleet with a second crane in this class, and in impressive fashion.”

The LTM 1650-8.1 features a maximum lifting capacity of 700 tonnes and can lift at a maximum radius of 112m and a maximum height of 152m. Straight after acquiring its latest asset, the crane was sent to a harbour in Germany, where it loaded machine parts weighing up to 115 tonnes onto a barge.

On the other hand, on top of its 110-tonne capacity and 60m telescopic boom, the LTM 1110-5.2 is Liebherr’s first crane to feature the new LICCON3 system. According to Liebherr, the third generation LICCON control system is operated the same as previous generations, while adding a fast data bus, significantly more storage space and greater computing power, and being prepared for telematics and fleet management.

Additionally, the crane can carry up to 13.4 tonnes of counterweight on the road, making it a highly universal mobile machine.
