The new mobile crane replaces a five-year-old LTM 1090-4.
Auto Kurz GmbH purchased the crane due to Liebherr’s service, equipment quality and the global crane manufacturer’s value retention.
Auto Kurz GmbH Managing Director Johannes Daume said Liebherr cranes, and the LTM 1070-4.2, are robust and durable.
“Therefore they are also very stable in value, which is very valuable in today’s fast-moving times,” he said.
“A 70-tonner (the LTM 1070-4.2) fits very well into our portfolio, as it closes the gap between our large loader cranes and our mobile cranes in the 90-120-tonnne class.”
Auto Kurz GmbH will use the new 70-tonne crane for a wide range of applications, with one of the main areas of use being the laying of precast concrete parts. In addition to six loader cranes and the LTM 1070-4.2, Auto Kurz GmbH operates two other Liebherr mobile cranes.
The four-axle crane also carries the majority of its counterweight on the road. This means that it is immediately ready for use once it reaches the site.
With the quick-change system for the ballast, the crane can be quickly converted to different axle load variants. With 3.8 tonnes of ballast, the LTM 1070-4.2 has a total weight of 40 tonnes and an axle load of 10 tonnes. With an axle load of 12 tonnes, it carries 10.7 tonnes of counterweight and can therefore perform a large number of its tasks without additional ballast transport.
“The LTM 1070-4.2 is a mature product and enjoys a very good reputation. The well-known ease of operation and innovative technology such as VarioBase rounds off the crane,” said Johannes.
The variable support VarioBase offers higher performance and more safety, especially in confined spaces. With ECOmode and ECOdrive, it is particularly economical to use when on the road.
ECOdrive reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by around five per cent when the crane is being driven.
The LTM 1070-4.2 is now supplied with the new ZF TraXon DynamicPerform transmission with oil-cooled clutch module for wear-free starting and manoeuvring.
The four-axle crane includes a maximum hoist height of 65 metres and a maximum radius of 48m, with a 50m telescopic boom.
The TELEMATIK single-cylinder telescoping system ensures that the telescopic boom can be extended to the required length easily and automatically.
The active, speed-dependent rear-axle steering enables the crane to drive off-road, therefore, making it highly manoeuvrable.
Johannes spoke to the relationship Auto Kurz GmbH has with Liebherr.
“We have been working with Liebherr on a basis of trust for a long time. The service is excellent and we always receive prompt support.”
