The Liebherr crane impressed with its compact 4-axle models, to cater for the increasingly narrow roads in new development areas. The reduced width of the LTM 1090-4.2 means the crane can work efficiently in tight spaces, which ultimately contributed to the decision, says Managing Director, Ute Fuchs.

“The mobile crane’s width of just 2.55 metres is ideal for use in new development areas where roads and tracks are increasingly narrow,” said Ute.

The flexible VarioBallast and the VarioBase support base were the major factors when acquiring the crane, as the two functions provide greater safety and increased flexibility during the crane operation.

“The compact dimensions of the 4-axle crane and its high lifting capacity with a gross weight of 48-tonnes are also a real boon,” said Managing Director Markus Fuchs.

The LTM 1090-4.2 includes a 22.4 ballast capacity, a telescopic boom length of up to 60m and a lattice jib of 15.8m.

The LTM 1090-4.2 also features ECOmode and ECOdrive; engine features that reduce fuel and noice reduction, when the crane is in action.

Ute said the Rolf Herbold GmbH fleet now comprises of seven different crane models. Ute spoke to the partnership the company has with Liebherr.

“My parents, Rolf and Elisabeth Herbold, took over my grandfather’s haulage company in the 1970s and bought their first mobile crane very soon afterwards. Even all that time ago, my father decided to go for Liebherr. To this day, we value the good partnership and excellent working relationship,” Ute said.

“Above all, the customer service is always very helpful, and the engineers are both reliable and competent,” said Ute.
