New Grove GMK4080L hits the road with upgraded performance

French crane and industrial services company Foselev has added a new Grove GMK4080L to its fleet, replacing an older GMK4080-1. The handover took place at the JDL Expo in Beaune and completes a larger multi-crane order.

The GMK4080L features a 60m main boom, making it one of the strongest cranes in its class. A key benefit for Foselev is its ability to travel with 13.3t of counterweight while staying within a 12t axle load. This means the crane often does not need an extra vehicle to carry counterweights, saving time, money and increasing flexibility on site.

The crane also has a compact outrigger base of 6.2 x 6.8m, allowing it to work in tight spaces and even act as an alternative to a three-axle crane when needed.

The addition marks part of Foselev’s ongoing fleet modernisation program. Brice Bonnefoy, Equipment Director at Foselev, said the GMK4080L was chosen for its strength, reach and taxi capabilities.

“We chose the Grove GMK4080L because of its 60 m main boom and its excellent taxi crane characteristics, which make it particularly efficient and flexible in use. In addition, the compact support base allows us to use it as a replacement for smaller cranes when necessary,” said Brice.

Right after the handover, the GMK4080L travelled from Nancy to Martigues in southern France, where it is supporting major maintenance works at a chemical site. The driver reported that the MEGATRAK® independent suspension made the long journey comfortable and reliable.
