German crane rental specialist Sönke Jordt has added a new Grove GMK4080L all-terrain crane to its fleet, further strengthening its capabilities for customers across Northern Germany.
The new four-axle taxi crane was delivered directly to the company’s headquarters in Ratekau, Schleswig-Holstein, from Manitowoc’s mobile crane factory in Wilhelmshaven. It joins a fleet of 13 other mobile cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 30 t to 300 t, as well as three large knuckle-boom cranes.
Celebrating the handover of the new machine were company owner Sönke Jordt, Paul Stender, and Tim Jordt, joined by Holger Haber of Manitowoc and John Klebs from Sönke Jordt.
Designed for maximum flexibility, the Grove GMK4080L features a 60 m main boom — the longest in its class — and strong load charts, even with a compact counterweight package for taxi crane operations. For additional reach, the 80 t crane comes equipped with an 8.7 m –15 m bi-fold swingaway jib.
At just 2.55 m wide, the crane’s compact footprint makes it well-suited for jobs with limited space. It can also travel with up to 13.3 t of its 19.1 t counterweight while meeting a 12-t axle load, or 5.2 t for a 10-t axle load.
The GMK4080L will be deployed on industrial, construction, and infrastructure projects throughout Northern Germany. Alongside its lifting performance, the model incorporates advanced technologies including MEGATRAK® suspension, MAXbase™ outrigger positioning, and Manitowoc’s CCS crane control system.
The addition of the new crane underlines Sönke Jordt’s commitment to ongoing investment in innovative lifting solutions. The family-run company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, is one of Northern Germany’s leading crane rental providers, offering crane rental, heavy haulage, and industrial relocation services.
