Marking the first mobile crane in the company’s inventory that includes work platforms, forklifts, and loading cranes, the model purchased by Stützle-Späth possesses the new LICCON3 crane control system and a redesigned cab. For Managing Director, Torsten Späth, who also completed his apprenticeship with the German manufacturers, it was a “special feeling” to purchase the LTM 1110-5.2 from his former training company.

“We made the decision to buy our first mobile crane in order to offer our customers a comprehensive service,” he said. “The ultra-modern Liebherr LTM 1110-5.2 mobile crane marks the beginning of a new era for our company.”

On top of the new LICCON3 control system and the redesigned operator’s cab, the crane possesses a 60m telescopic boom, a 110-tonne lifting capacity, and a hydraulically adjustable double folding jib. On the technological side, the crane features Liebherr’s patented VarioBase allowing for variable support bases to achieve higher lifting capacities and an Autoballast system enabling automatic ballasting at the touch of a button.

A key selling point for the team at Stützle-Späth, however, was the high mobility and short set-up times offered by the LTM 1110-5.2 due to its lightweight construction and ballast quick change system that allows for axle loads of less than ten tonnes within a short time. For Späth, the new, wide range of markets and applications the crane opens up without the need for “complex individual driving permits” drove the point home for the German company.

“Its technical features such as the variable support base, the new control system and the impressive load capacity values, even with minimal ballast, convinced us,” he said. “Added to this is our close affinity to Liebherr; our company is only ten kilometres away from their crane production site. Service and spare parts supply are therefore very close to us.”
