MPM becomes first Pan-American buyer of Tadano’s fully electric crane

At the bauma construction trade fair in Munich, Chilean company Mantención, Proyectos y Montajes (MPM) made headlines by becoming the first in the Pan-American region to purchase Tadano’s fully electric rough terrain crane—the eGR-1000XLL-1. This move signals a push towards greener lifting solutions in Latin America.

Tadano’s latest crane runs entirely on electric power. It delivers the same heavy-duty lifting performance as traditional fuel-powered cranes but with zero emissions, less noise, and higher energy efficiency. It’s part of Tadano’s new EVOLT series aimed at transforming how the construction and heavy lifting industries operate.

Daniel Vega, CEO of MPM, said the decision wasn’t just about upgrading their equipment. It was about leading the industry towards sustainability. “The eGR-1000XLL-1’s performance, combined with its environmental benefits, made it the perfect choice,” he noted.

TREX, a major distributor of lifting equipment in the region, handled the sale. The company represents Tadano and other global brands across Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. TREX’s Gonzalo Salazar called the deal a milestone, reinforcing the company’s commitment to both innovation and eco-friendly technology.

Tadano executives, including CEO of Tadano America Dean Barley, were present at the crane’s official handover. They praised MPM’s move as a sign of growing demand for sustainable equipment across the Americas.

MPM plans to deploy the new crane across major projects in Chile and beyond, furthering its reputation as a forward-thinking player in mining, industrial maintenance, and heavy lifting.
