Monadelphous acquires 54 axle lines of Cometto’s SPMTs

Cometto's SPMTs have found themselves in the possession of Australian publicly listed company Monadelphous.

Australian engineering group Monadelphous has taken stock of a further 54 axle lines of Cometto’s SPMTs.

Adding to the company’s 52 axle lines that were acquired in 2012, the West Australian-based construction, maintenance, and industrial services company now holds a total of 106 SPMT axle lines provided by Cometto.

The publicly listed engineering group made the decision to acquire the 54 axle lines of Cometto’s MSPE 48t range to further enhance its logistical and engineered heavy lifting capabilities.

Cometto’s MSPE 48t range, labelled “robust and versatile” by the Italian manufacturers, provide increased stability with up to three metres of width, and come with a standard night kit featuring LED lights above all the suspension to optimise visibility.

Additionally, the MSPE 48t range possesses tubeless tires, 16-tonne lifting rings, and a bending moment of 7,250 kN.m in 48t Standard mode, and 9,400 kN.m in 48t Heavy Duty mode.

The news comes after Monadelphous recently ordered a new Tadano 1600-tonne capacity crawler, which will become the largest capacity crane in Australia when it arrives in July 2024. Set to go straight to work on the BHP Car Dumper 3 Replacement Project, the crane will be stationed there for 12 months completing maintenance work.

Established in 1972, Monadelphous is an ASX-200 company providing multidisciplinary construction, maintenance and industrial services to many of the largest companies in the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Italian manufacturer Cometto was founded in 1954 before being acquired by Faymonville Group.
