Michelin has introduced a new size in its crane tyre lineup–the MICHELIN X-CRANE 2 445/95 R 25—designed for mobile and all-terrain cranes that operate both on- and off-road.
This model aims to deliver better performance, greater safety, and improved fuel efficiency for crane operators across Europe and the United States of America.
The standout feature of this new tyre is its higher load and speed index of 178F, which means each tyre can carry up to 800 kilogram more than its predecessor while moving at 80 kilometre per hour (kmph). That’s a total of 1.6 tonnes extra per axle. Despite this increase, the tyre is 5 per cent lighter than the previous model, the MICHELIN X-CRANE +.
Safety also gets a boost. Michelin claims that in wet braking tests, its tyre stops 27 per cent shorter than its main competitor. It’s also M+S certified, meaning it performs reliably on mud and snow, giving crane operators more control in tough conditions.
The tyre includes Michelin REGENION technology, which uses 3D metal printing to create treads that regenerate over time. This keeps grip consistent and extends the tyre’s lifespan, even under heavy use. As a bonus, the tyre also promises to cut fuel consumption by over 13 per cent, potentially saving around 826 litres of fuel per 10,000 km.
The new 445/95 R 25 size is already approved for major crane models, including:

• Grove’s GMK
• Tadano’s AC
• Link-Belt’s AT models in the US
