In an era of rapid decarbonisation, the demand for sustainable, low-emission machinery is becoming imperative for crane companies worldwide. In Australia, the desire for low-emission machinery has transitioned into a necessity. Contractors, sub-contractors and all stakeholders in between are now incentivised to prioritise high performance with minimal carbon footprint, as they are rewarded for environmentally conscious practices.

MCT Equipment has embraced a strong approach to emissions reduction. Instead of simply reducing emissions, the company is providing the option to completely remove them. This innovative initiative stems from its national distributorship with Italian manufacturer JMG’s Electric Cranes, a partnership announced last year.

And, in another big boost for sustainable machinery Down Under, the first of the electric pick and carry cranes has officially landed in MCT’s facility in Henderson, Western Australia.

With an unprecedented eight hours of operational time guaranteed, JMG’s battery-powered Electric Cranes series redefines the concept of a day’s work, making a substantial contribution to environmental conservation with zero emissions and embodying a conscious shift towards a cleaner, greener future. An additional benefit of these cranes is the noise pollution – or, more accurately, lack thereof, as they operate with significantly reduced noise emissions compared to their traditional diesel counterparts. The versatility of these cranes is exemplified by their seamless adaptation to 25 different fields, providing an efficient, capable and compact alternative to conventional lifting solutions. These pick-and-carry machines fulfil both lifting and handling requirements with a high level of performance, precise movement, rapid setup times and assured operator safety.

JMG Electric Cranes’ full range of pick and carry cranes introduces a series of Radio Remote-Controlled machines possessing capacities from 2.5 tonnes through to 58 tonnes that are designed to thrive in narrow spaces, ensuring total safety of movements for  operators.

The Cabin-Cruise range, spanning from 8.5 tonnes to 70 tonnes, and Lige range, with capacities from four tonnes through to 12 tonnes, offer direct control options and electric battery-operated pick-and-carry capabilities for agile and precise performances – even in confined spaces.

The 10-tonne to 50-tonne capacity Carry Deck product line is designed to meet the need for agility and control, with an articulated telescopic boom making them most suited for industrial maintenance. Additionally, the 12-tonne Telescopic Forklift range is compact, easy-to-handle and designed to integrate the eight-tonne hydraulic fork within the 12-tonne max capacity.

Completing JMG’s product line is the smaller, more nimble Lifter range possessing 400kg-900kg lifting capacity, featuring an innovative steering system providing agility, precision and simultaneous movements. Extremely compact and easy to manoeuvre, these lifter cranes are fully dismountable and, in turn, easy to transport.

A standout from JMG’s product range is the JMG MC250, a 25-tonne capacity electric pick and carry crane. Fully operational for an entire eight hours, the machine possesses a maximum hook height of 10m, a maximum working radius of 7.7m, a telescopic boom providing a high degree of flexibility, a comprehensive LMI system and front-wheel drive with counter rotation for manoeuvrability.

Additional features for JMG’s comprehensive product range include multiple attachment options such as a mechanic jib, hydraulic jib, hydraulic winch, hydraulic fork glass manipulator and vacuum. The entire product range features three settings on the boom head – 0, 40, and 80 degrees, radio-remote control operations, a high frequency battery charger for quick recharging, telemetry for monitoring and tracking performance, non-marking tyres to prevent floor markings, removable counterweights and counter rotation on its front wheel including 180-degree rear steering.

Emblematic of the significant advancements in sustainable machinery operating across Australia, the collaboration between MCT and JMG provides an insight into what the future of machinery could look like regarding efficiency, sustainability and adaptability across various industrial sectors, such as maintenance, engineering, mining and construction, shipbuilding yards, food industries, ports and maritime.

As the industry progresses forward into advanced, sustainable lifting technology, MCT Equipment anticipates the extensive utilisation of these innovative pick and carry cranes across various industries throughout Australia.
