Mammoet, the Dutch heavy-lifting and transport giant, has added two new electric vehicles to its fleet: the Eco500 from Cometto. These compact machines are designed to handle big jobs in tight spaces while helping reduce emissions on industrial sites.
The Eco500 is a small but powerful self-propelled transporter. Its compact size — just 670 millimetre (mm) high when lowered — and ability to move in all directions via remote control make it ideal for manoeuvring in areas where larger trailers can’t operate, like inside factories or around tight construction sites.
Its integrated electric power pack and patented suspension system allow it to carry heavy loads smoothly, even in confined environments. It can be configured with two, three, or four axles (or even dual four-axle setups), giving it a load capacity ranging from 67 to 274 tonnes.
The new electric transporters are part of Mammoet’s push for “zero-emissions on site” operations. Along with reducing carbon emissions, the Eco500s also lower operational noise and cut down on the amount of equipment needed for complex transport jobs.
One of the key benefits of the Eco500 is that it works similarly to Mammoet’s current fleet. It uses the same kind of lifting system as other transport units, making it easier for teams to adopt and integrate without additional training or tools.
Ludo Mous, Mammoet’s Global Asset Director for SPMTs, said the company is always looking to make heavy lifting safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. “The Eco500 is compact, electric, and easy to use — a great addition to our fleet,” he said.
Cometto’s product manager, Adrian Zingan, said Mammoet had specific needs for an electric transporter, and the Eco500 delivered. “It’s a compact and powerful solution for emission-free intralogistics,” he noted.
These new vehicles join Mammoet’s growing fleet of electric SPMTs (self-propelled modular transporters), skidding systems, and cranes. The goal is to help clients cut carbon emissions and meet their environmental targets ahead of 2030.
