The skyline of Bratislava is set to get a new addition as the the final tower of the Skypark complex rises. Three advanced Liebherr cranes are performing the heavy lifting.
The project marks a significant milestone as it features Slovakia’s first-ever use of a Liebherr HC-L series luffing jib crane.
The Skypark Tower, designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, is the last of five towers in the Skypark project in Bratislava’s new city center. Standing tall at 120 metres with 30 floors, the tower will offer approximately 55,000 square metres of modern office space, catering to international businesses.
Construction commenced in mid-2024, deploying three powerful Liebherr cranes that play a pivotal role in the project’s progress:
- 190 HC-L Luffing Jib Crane: Delivered new from Liebherr’s Tower Crane Center in Bad Waldsee, this crane features a 55-metre jib. Initially erected at 60 metres, it is set to reach an impressive hook height of 145 metres.
- 150 EC-B 8 Litronic: Working with a 45-metre jib, this crane has climbed from an initial 66 metres to match the 145-metre height.
- 110 EC-B 6: Equipped with a 32.5-metre jib, this crane will achieve a hook height of 57.7 metres.
These cranes belong to Skanska Slovakia’s fleet, with additional equipment supplied by the Slovakian Liebherr dealer Kranimex. The high performance and modular adaptability of these cranes ensure an efficient and smooth construction process.
The Skypark Tower is part of a broader urban development initiative aimed at revitalising Bratislava’s cityscape. The project includes new residential and commercial spaces, extensive green areas, and vibrant public spaces.
