A Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 mobile crane has been hard at work, erecting a series of heavy steel trusses to form structures of the Aquarabia water park, to be located in Qiddiya City.
Dubai-based Al Faris Group used the crane’s record-breaking 100 metre boom and its 1200 tonne maximum lifting capacity to erect a series of large steel trusses that will make up the foundations of the water park’s main buildings.
Typically suited for wind turbine erection projects, the luffer combination on the LTM 11200-9.1 helped raise the hook to a desired height, which assisted with the placement of the trusses.
The 9-axle chassis includes the active, speed-dependent rear-axle steering developed to move around the theme park construction site with ease, while the Y-guying on the LTM 11200-9.1 allowed for lateral stability, when moving the heavy loads of the trusses.
Al Faris, which has 38 all-terrain cranes in its fleet, is a part of Faris Group, a specialist for heavy lifting, heavy transport and energy solutions with one of the largest fleet of cranes and heavy equipment in the Middle East.
To be built 45 kilometres from downtown Riyadh, the Aquarabia theme park will be 250,000 square metres in size, inclusive of 22 rides and attractions and will offer 22 food and beverage outlets.
After construction began in 2019, Aquarabia is due to open in 2025, forming a part of the planned Qiddiya City entertainment and tourism megaproject.
