The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has launched a new international survey to identify the biggest challenges facing the industry today, especially around skills, training, and recruitment.
The lifting industry, which includes the safe use and inspection of cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment, is facing a serious shortage of skilled workers. To address this, LEEA is inviting professionals from around the world, whether they’re members of the organisation or not, to take part in a short, 10-minute survey.
The goal is to understand the current gaps in training, the difficulties companies face in hiring new talent, and what support the workforce needs.
The results of the survey will be unveiled on Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD), taking place this year on June 12. The findings will help shape future industry initiatives and serve as a platform for discussions around safety, skills development, and attracting the next generation of workers. The deadline to participate in the survey is April 25, 2025.
GLAD is an annual event focused on promoting safety and innovation in the lifting industry.
This year, the theme is about tackling the growing skills gap, encouraging young people to explore careers in lifting, and equipping businesses with practical tools to find and train new talent.
