The LTM 1160-5.2 has expanded KönningKrane’s fleet, increasing its capabilities; KönningKrane said the high performing crane, with a lifting capacity of 180-tonne and a 2.75m vehicle width were the main reasons behind the decision.
“The LTM 1160-5.2 is no wider than 2.75 metres and has unbeatable lifting capacities in its class. It is significantly more powerful than comparable cranes,” said Verena Könning – Managing Director of KönningKrane and the third generation of the family to manage the business, based in Münsterland.
Also Managing Director, Johannes Bendfeld, added to the praise.
“Liebherr delivers innovations that make crane operations safer and more efficient, such as the VarioBase variable support base and the VarioBallast adjustable counterweight radius,” said Johannes. “The LTM 1160-5.2 enables us to carry all the ballast on just two vehicles without needing any additional permits. With just one ballast transport, we already have 29 tonnes of counterweight on the crane and can rent out the LTM 1160-5.2 as a 130-tonne crane. This means we can already do a large number of jobs.”
Verana and Johannes both touched on KönningKrane’s relationship with Liebherr.
“Liebherr’s service has a good reputation and the fact that we are close to the Liebherr branch in Oberhausen is definitely a benefit,” said Verena.
Johannes said he can imagine buying more Liebherr cranes in the future.
“Liebherr cranes have the same control regardless of size. That’s a major benefit because it means operators can switch between the machines very easily,” Johannes said.
KönningKrane has a fleet of 20 cranes, with lifting capacities ranging from 40-t0-180-tonnes.
In addition to mobile and mobile construction crane rental services, the family-run business’s portfolio also includes concrete pumps and working platforms as well as transport, recovery and tree felling.
