Working on the $1.3 billion Bunbury Outer Ring Road, the crane hire company was contracted to help install the bridge beams on the Yalinda Drive overpass. Sitting in the Southern section of the BORR, the bridge had been nothing but designs until Joyce Krane was able to send its 800-tonne capacity LTM 1750-9.1 to lift and help install the four new beams.
According to Main Roads WA, the project presented a unique challenge as, while there was no rail line or river to cross at the site, high voltage powerlines were running overhead and along the side of the bridge that Joyce Krane needed to navigate. Ultimately, the beams were 180 tonnes in weight, 36m in length and 2.2m in height, requiring extensive rigging and Joyce Krane using the TY configuration of its machine, with Liebherr’s Y-guying system providing between 15-to-50 per cent boosts in lifting capacities compared to its regular configuration.
News of Joyce Krane’s exploits on the Yalinda Drive overpass come after the WA-based crane hire company deployed its LG1750 and LTM 1750-9.1 to tandem lift 200-tonne bridge beams on the new Boyanup-Picton Road.
