The Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) has taken to social media to raise awareness about standards throughout the industry at the point of use with the #GLAD2020 hashtag.
Global Lifting Awareness Day, or GLAD, will take place on 9 July 2020.
The LEAA aims to make the day about attracting the next generation of recruits into the sector.
It’s hopes to remind end users about how important it is to use high-quality suppliers and to ask policy makers for support and recognition for the role the industry plays.
The day will also be a way to celebrate the role the lifting industry plays during the COVID-19 pandemic.

LEEA CEO Ross Moloney said it will be an important day for the global lifting industry.
“All too often our industry is hidden, ignored or unrecognised by end users and certainly by some of the supply chains that we serve,” Moloney said.
“Global Lifting Awareness Day is about getting the whole industry and the associated supply chains to recognise the importance of high standards in lifting, the significance of quality and how to ensure lifting best practice.
“GLAD on 9 July 2020 will be a big day for our industry so make sure it’s in your diary and let’s raise global awareness of high-quality lifting practice – not forgetting to add #GLAD2020 to it.”
LEEA Member Engagement Manager Justin Boehm said the lifting industry is incredibly exciting.
“Our push to raise standards is gaining momentum and GLAD is a way to show the amazing work our members do and can be recognised for their contribution,” Boehm said.
