Gamuda Engineering has been awarded a second major contract on the Sydney Metro project, with the NSW Government appointing the company to deliver the Sydney Metro Stations Package West.
This follows Gamuda Engineering’s earlier success on the Sydney Metro West project, after it was appointed in 2022 to deliver the Western Tunnelling Package. The latest contract further strengthens the company’s role in delivering Sydney’s next generation transport network.
The Sydney Metro Stations Package West covers the design and construction of five new metro stations along the Sydney Metro West line. The stations will be built at Westmead, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays.
The package forms part of the 24-kilometre Sydney Metro West line, which will connect Greater Parramatta with Sydney’s CBD. Works will include the construction of station boxes, entrances and access points, station fit-out works, and integration with surrounding precincts.
Gamuda Engineering chief executive officer Ewan Yee said the appointment reflected the strong performance of teams on the project and the relationship built with Sydney Metro and the NSW Government.
“We are very pleased to once again partner with the NSW Government to deliver another vital package of Australia’s largest transport project. Being entrusted to deliver the Stations Package West is a testament to the exceptional work our teams continue to deliver, and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with Sydney Metro as we help shape the future of Sydney’s transport network,” Yee said.
Gamuda will act as the Principal Contractor for the project. Laing O’Rourke and DT Infrastructure will join the delivery team, known as MetroVista, as delivery partners.
The contract award follows a strong year for Gamuda Engineering. Recent wins include the Richmond Road Upgrade for Transport for NSW and Sydney Water’s Ryde to Pymble pipeline upgrade, with both projects already underway.
The company has also continued to build momentum in the renewables sector. Yanara recently selected Gamuda to deliver Stage 1 of the Mortlake Energy Hub.
Construction on the Sydney Metro Stations Package West is scheduled to begin on Monday, 5 January 2026.
