Australian crane manufacturer Franna has introduced its latest pick-and-carry crane, the FR19 US, to the North American market.
The new model builds on the success of the AT24 US and is part of the company’s expansion strategy in the region.
Designed for power, performance, and versatility, the FR19 US offers a compact solution for industrial, construction, and infrastructure projects.
The FR19 US has a maximum lifting capacity of 19 US tons (17,236 kilograms) with 1.5 metre (m) radius and a maximum hook height of 17m. It runs on a 90-kilowatt, Tier 4F emission-compliant Cummins engine with a fully powershift transmission.
Its compact size allows for easy maneuvering in tight spaces, and the articulated steering system enables precise load placement. The crane also features heavy-duty planetary drive axles and a high-strength U-Section fabricated boom.
Andreas Ernst, General Manager Terex Material Handling & Lifting Americas, said the new model blends Franna’s reliability with features tailored to the needs of North American customers and offers exceptional lifting capacity, efficient operation, and the versatility required for challenging worksites.
Cabin design
The ergonomic cabin provides easy access to maintenance points. A torque converter system eliminates the need for a clutch pedal which reduces fatigue during long shifts. The high-seated position and single lift cylinder improve visibility.
Support network in North America
Franna has set up a dedicated service team in Wilmington, North Carolina, providing technical assistance, spare parts, and maintenance services.
Jason MacKenzie, President of Select Cranes, which operates in New Jersey, Florida, and Virginia, highlighted the demand for Franna’s cranes.
“We believe the Franna AT24 US offers distinct advantages over other pick-and-carry options. Since its arrival, we’ve received positive feedback from customers and are now considering expanding our rental fleet with additional units,” he said.
Future plans
Franna has confirmed plans to launch another model, the AT44 US, later this year as part of its product lineup. The FR19 US will also be showcased at live demonstrations throughout 2025, including the Utilities Expo from October 7–9, 2025, where customers can see it in action.
