Fleet gets major upgrade with two new Liebherr mobile cranes

Mikschl Autokrane GmbH, a crane and transport service based in Aichach, Germany, has updated and expanded its fleet with two new mobile cranes from Liebherr: the LTM 1070-4.2 and the LTM 1230-5.1. The goal is to modernise operations, improve efficiency on job sites, and reduce downtime caused by older machines.

The new LTM 1070-4.2 is a compact 70-tonne, 4-axle crane that replaces an older 60-tonne model. It’s designed for flexibility across a wide range of construction sites and stands out for its strong lifting capacity, even while travelling with ballast. Liebherr has also added fuel-saving features like ECOmode and ECOdrive, along with a smart rear axle steering system that helps the crane handle off-road terrain and tight corners.

Meanwhile, the LTM 1230-5.1 is a larger 230-tonne, 5-axle crane with advanced features such as VarioBase Plus, which allows for wider outrigger positioning. This system increases lifting capacity, especially towards the rear, and adapts in real time using Liebherr’s LICCON control software. With its long 75-metre telescopic boom, this crane is well suited for high-reach tasks like tower crane assembly or wind turbine maintenance.

Mikschl says they chose Liebherr again due to the company’s reliable service and fast spare parts availability. The user experience matters too: crane operators reportedly appreciate the comfort and smooth driving experience of Liebherr’s mobile cranes.

“Our fleet always has the latest cranes on the market – this enables us to avoid crane breakdowns and provide our customers with the best possible support in realising their projects,” said Roland Mikschl, Managing Director of Mikschl Autokrane GmbH.

Despite having a team of just twelve, Mikschl Autokrane operates across several key cities including Munich, Augsburg, Ingolstadt and Donauwörth. The new cranes are already in daily use across various job sites, handling both routine and heavy-duty tasks.
