Egypt has recently received a major boost to its infrastructure and agricultural developments with the arrival of its first batch of Grove all-terrain and rough-terrain cranes.
The delivery includes 60 t Grove GMK3060L-1 all-terrain cranes and multiple 30 t Grove RT530E-2 rough-terrain cranes, aimed at supporting projects across the country.
The cranes were delivered in May 2025 to two key customers through Manitowoc’s regional partner, Orascom Services. Besides providing the equipment, Orascom Services is offering localised training, technical support, and aftersales services to ensure the cranes operate efficiently over the long term.
In northeastern Cairo, the GMK3060L-1 cranes are playing a pivotal role in building vital refining infrastructure at a major refinery project. These cranes are being used to install oil pumps and pipelines. Their compact size and powerful lifting capabilities make them ideal for the complex environment of refinery operations. They come equipped with the MAXbase™ variable-position outrigger system, auxiliary hoists, boom head cameras, and spark arrestor exhaust systems to enhance productivity and safety on site.
Meanwhile, the RT530E-2 rough-terrain cranes are supporting a massive agricultural initiative in Upper Egypt, aimed at converting arid land into productive farmland. These cranes are being used to lift water pumps and pivot irrigation systems, which are crucial to the project’s success. Designed for tough environments, the RT530E-2 features excellent manoeuvrability, a compact design, and a Cummins QSB6.7L engine that can handle high-sulphur fuel, ensuring reliable performance in remote areas.
