Manitowoc, MGX Equipment Services, and Aspen Equipment have joined forces to raise funds for Camp Hope, a Houston-based interim housing program offering free treatment to veterans dealing with combat-related trauma.
The initiative, “Empowering Warriors & Raising Hope,” is spearheaded by Manitowoc’s Veteran Employee Resource Group (VERG) in collaboration with MGX and Aspen.
The campaign revolves around the number 22, symbolising the average number of veteran suicides per day in the United States of America (USA), aiming to raise awareness and inspire advocacy. Events are designed to engage employees and communities in meaningful activities while generating support for Camp Hope, which benefits from the efforts of the PTSD Foundation of America.
On June 26, Manitowoc’s Shady Grove campus in Pennsylvania will host an event where employees will walk 22 laps to raise awareness and funds. A Grove TMS800-2 crane will mark the start and finish lines, proudly displaying the American flag alongside military branch flags. Participants can also choose to complete 22 pushups or sit-ups, send 22 thank-you notes, and more.
Manitowoc’s Milwaukee corporate office is contributing by making 22 blankets and filling 22 backpacks with supplies for the local VA hospital. MGX and Aspen locations will organize similar activities, and remote employees are encouraged to participate virtually.
Additionally, Manitowoc is selling limited-edition “22” shirts in the VERG Manitowoc Cranes Store. The teal color of the shirts represents PTSD awareness. Proceeds from shirt sales will go directly to Camp Hope, and donations can be made by selecting MGX in the “events” box on the donation page. The Manitowoc Foundation will match all donations and shirt proceeds up to $25,000.
The fundraising efforts will culminate with a presentation ceremony at MGX Houston on September 10, where Manitowoc executives will hand over the collected funds to Camp Hope.
