CICA National Conference set to bring the crane industry together in Brisbane

The Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA) will host its 2025 National Conference from Wednesday 15 to Friday 17 October at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, promising three days of discussion, innovation and connection for the crane sector.

This year’s theme, Are You Invested?, looks beyond financial commitments to highlight the industry’s investment in people, safety, technology and sustainability. The program begins on Wednesday afternoon with registrations and an opening dinner at a rooftop venue, giving delegates an early chance to connect before the sessions commence.

Thursday will open with a welcome from conference MC Marianne Van Dorslar and addresses from CICA President Marcus Ferrari and CEO Brandon Hitch. The day’s program features a strong line-up of industry panels and technical presentations, including a manufacturers’ panel with senior representatives from Liebherr, Sany, Tadano, Terex, XCMG and Zoomlion.

A crane owners’ panel later in the day will bring perspectives from operators across Australia, while technical sessions will cover topics such as telematics, innovations in wire rope and major lift case studies. Mental health will also be on the agenda, with Beyond Blue’s Jason Egan sharing insights into the importance of wellbeing in the industry. The exhibition and crane display will open at lunchtime, giving delegates the chance to see the latest equipment up close, before the evening networking dinner, where the People’s Choice Lift of the Year award will be announced.

Friday’s plenary will be headlined by Olympic gold and silver medallist Brooke Hanson, who will deliver a keynote address on leadership, resilience and overcoming adversity. Technical presentations will focus on modular construction and incremental lifting, alongside health and safety updates from industry specialists and Queensland Health’s Dr Fiona Brown. The afternoon will move into a series of workshops covering areas such as training, cyber security, finance, social media, and lift planning, designed to give delegates practical knowledge to take back to their businesses.

The conference will conclude with the Gala Awards Dinner on Friday evening, where industry achievements will be celebrated in black-tie style. Across the three days, delegates will also be able to explore a large exhibition and crane display, showcasing new products and services from across the sector.
