Announced at the Victorian & Tasmanian branch meeting on March 19, the national crane association developed the template as a result of members’ feedback, working with industry specialist law firm and CICA member, Level Playing Field Lawyers, to create a template specifically for use in Cross Hire situations. The Cross Hire agreement template is available for free to all CICA members and can be accessed via the CICA member portal under the ‘Resources’ section and ‘Business Essentials’ sub-section.

The Cross Hire agreement template is an initiative derived from CICA Business Essentials, is designed to mitigate the risks and responsibilities in the Cross Hire of cranes. According to CICA, the aim of the template is to enable efficient contracting between crane owners, hirers, operators, and construction companies, to reduce the risk of disputes arising.

The national template was developed in tandem with CICA member, Level Playing Field Lawyers: a law firm specialising in construction law.

News of CICA’s latest initiative comes after the association revealed the theme for its upcoming national conference in October this year. Labelled ‘Building a Sustainable Tomorrow’ the conference will revolve around innovation in equipment that promote environmental sustainability in the crane industry.

The conference will be held in Adelaide and run from October 17-19, with attendance and exhibition opportunities available.
