In a remarkable feat of engineering, an 8-tonne precast section was successfully lifted in central London with just 2 centimetres (cm) to spare.
The project, executed by Keltbray Lifting, showcased the capabilities of the Modulift Multi-Point Lifting Beam, supplied by RSG Rentals.
Faced with tight headroom and a tight deadline, Keltbray turned to RSG Rentals for quick assistance. Within 48 hours, the MP-12 MultiPoint Beam, renowned for its low headroom design and impressive lifting capacity, was delivered to the site. Its ability to lift heavy loads with just 630mm of headroom made it the ideal choice for the tricky operation.
Precision engineering played a vital role in the success of the project. The MP-12 beam, along with essential accessories like load ring lifting points and bow shackles, ensured the lift was executed efficiently and safely.
Sarah Spivey, Managing Director of Modulift, emphasised the importance of collaboration and having the right tools available. She said, “The MP-12 beam’s capabilities were instrumental in overcoming the significant headroom constraints, and we’re proud to see it contributing to another successful lifting operation in the heart of London.”
