LTM 1300-6.3 – A powerhouse over the rear

Dietmar Floßdorf GmbH & Co. KG was one of the first three crane companies in Germany to put the new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane into service. For a few weeks now, the company based in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler in Rhineland-Palatinate has been sending its newcomer on assignments. The 6-axle crane has now replaced an LTM 1300-6.2 in the fleet at Floßdorf. When Wildson de Jesus, general director of Willift Lifting Engineering, received the task to plan the lifting of heavy metal parts at a 40 m (131 ft) height, at a lime plant in Vitoria, Brazil, his main concern was to find the right equipment to perform the job securely and efficiently. Jesus knew it would be a complex operation — six silos and their lids, each part weighing 22 tonnes  and 4t respectively, had to be removed and some heavy metal parts connected to these barrels would need to be cut off during the dismantling process.

Breathe new life into your EWP assets

Like many construction and heavy machinery items, EWPs in Australia require a 10 year inspection in order to keep operating. The Australian Standards of Safety, (EWPA Code of Practice for Power-Operated Elevating Work Platforms 6.4.5 of AS 2550.10), requires a major inspection for all EWPs after 10 years of service and every five years thereafter.
