Andalusian crane services company Grúas Alhambra has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3, the first of its kind to land on the Iberian Peninsula.
Indicating the crane would be sent to work in refineries and wind turbine maintenance, Grúas purchased the crane due to its greater lifting capacity and height compared to other cranes in its fleet.
Featuring a 90-metre telescopic boom, Liebherr’s six-axle, 300-tonne mobile crane is designed to be a fast-erecting crane exerting a high lifting capacity at large hoist heights, with Grúas Alhambra’s Managing Director Abraham Molina stating the LTM 1300-6.3 “best meets” the company’s “current needs”.
“We were faced with the need for equipment with longer booms,” he said. “The capabilities of the new crane are undoubtedly a plus for our customers and will pave the way for new lifting projects.”
A market-leader with its capabilities to carry a 90-metre telescopic boom on a mobile crane with a 12-tonne axle load, the LTM 1300-6.3 features all Liebherr’s latest innovations: VarioBase Plus, VarioBallast, Auto-Ballast, a single-engine concept, and wind speed load charts.
“Grúas Alhambra will use the Liebherr LTM 1300-6.3 mobile crane mainly in refineries and in the maintenance of equipment in wind farms – but thanks to its versatility it will also be able to work in other areas,” said Molina. “Its very long telescopic boom usually does away with the need to mount a lattice extension, thereby saving a lot of time.”
Purchased through Liebherr’s Spanish sales service company Liebherr Ibérica, the LTM 1300-6.3 becomes the 36th Liebherr crane in Grúas Alhambra’s fleet which comprises of over 40 machines.
The Spanish crane hire company was founded in 1968 as a family business, and continues to offer its services across the Andalusia region.
